The south west tip of Dartmoor is only about half an hour away by car.
This is one of England’s last great wildernesses and stretches for some 365 square miles. Wild moorland ponies graze amidst the heather, there are steep wooded valleys with tumbling moorland brooks, tiny little villages, ancient prehistoric stone circles, and the famous craggy mounds of vast boulders known as tors.
There are several pony trekking centres and riding stables on the moor – a great way to explore - with rides and horses to suit your experience.
